Privacy policy

Inbox is a personal email application for iPhone and Mac developed by Benjamin Yu, under the Pawgrammer name. This policy explains how the app and this website handle information.

Google account access

Inbox uses Google’s sign-in flow to connect the Gmail account you authorize. It accesses message identifiers, headers, participants, subjects, snippets, message content, labels, read status, thread history, and relevant sent messages to display and organize your inbox and support the features described below.

The app requests Gmail’s gmail.modify and gmail.settings.basic permissions. These support reading and organizing mail, managing labels and read status, archiving and restoring messages, creating drafts, and managing filters for supported actions you choose. Google’s permission grant may allow broader operations than a particular Inbox feature uses. Inbox does not automatically send email.

Inbox uses mailbox information for synchronization, classification, priority and next-action suggestions, conversation grouping, briefings, reply suggestions, and learning from your corrections. Gmail remains the source of truth for your mailbox.

OAuth tokens are stored in the device’s Keychain. Inbox does not request or store your Google password.

Storage and retention

Inbox keeps a local cache of message metadata and selected message text, analysis, suggested replies, and synchronization progress. Personal guidance, action history, and briefing or draft records may sync through your private iCloud database when iCloud support is available and enabled. Mail itself syncs directly with Gmail rather than being mirrored through iCloud.

App records remain on your device or in your private iCloud storage until removed. Signing out removes the saved Google authorization from that device; it does not erase previously cached mail, briefings, drafts, or learning records. Revoking access likewise does not remove previously retained app data or delete your Gmail messages.

Optional AI features

When AI analysis or reply suggestions are enabled, relevant message content, conversation context, examples of sent writing, and saved guidance are sent to the AI provider you configure. Supported configurations include MiniMax and, on Mac, locally installed Codex or Claude tools that communicate with their respective providers. A locally installed tool does not mean the model runs offline.

This information is used to provide your requested email features. Inbox does not use your mailbox to train or fine-tune a generalized or shared AI model. Your configured provider and account settings govern the provider’s processing, retention, and data-use practices; review them before enabling AI features. You can pause automatic analysis in Settings, which stops new automatic analysis and preserves results already saved.

Inbox’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used for the email features described here, not advertising, resale, credit scoring, or unrelated profiling.

Who processes information

• Google provides Gmail, account authorization, and the mailbox operations you request.
• Apple provides Keychain, private iCloud synchronization where available, and app distribution. TestFlight feedback can include diagnostic information and anything you choose to submit.
• Your configured AI provider receives the information described above when you use AI features.
• Remote email content may contact servers identified in an email when images or links load.
• Cloudflare hosts this informational website and processes ordinary connection information, such as IP address and request details, to deliver and protect it. This website does not receive your Gmail messages or OAuth tokens.

Inbox has no advertising SDK or general-purpose analytics SDK. The developer does not sell mailbox data, operate a public mailbox endpoint, or route mailbox synchronization through a developer-operated mail server. The developer does not routinely receive or read your mailbox. Information you voluntarily include in a support request is used to respond to that request.

Your controls and deletion

• Disconnect in Inbox, or revoke authorization through your Google Account’s third-party connections.
• Turn off automatic AI analysis in Inbox Settings to stop new automatic provider requests.
• To remove retained local data, remove Inbox’s app data using the applicable device controls. Deleting the app may not remove separate Mac app-container data, Keychain entries, backups, or private iCloud records.
• Use your Apple account’s iCloud storage controls for app data where available. Contact intenex@gmail.com for help locating or removing local or private iCloud records, or to request deletion of information you previously sent to support.

Removing authorization or app data does not delete your Gmail messages. Data already received by an AI provider remains subject to that provider’s retention and deletion controls.

This website

These public pages are static and have no sign-in, tracking scripts, advertising, or forms that collect mailbox information. Contact links open your own email application; information is sent only if you choose to send a message.

Changes to this policy

This page will be updated with a new effective date when the policy changes. Material changes to data access or use will be disclosed before those changes are enabled, with consent where required.
